Eduardo A. Masferrer
Born in New York City, of Cuban and Irish-American heritage, Eduardo
Masferrer is a graduate from Boston College Law School and the College
of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. A fluent Spanish
speaker, Eduardo Masferrer lived in Panama City,
Panama and Miami, Florida before settling in Massachusetts. Attorney
Masferrer began his legal career as a Staff Attorney with the Committee
for Public Counsel where he represented hundreds of clients charged
with Superior Court felonies. Throughout his legal career he has
defended clients accused of crimes ranging from operating under the
influence, to robbery, to drug trafficking, to sexual assault. He has
successfully tried cases in the Superior Court as well as in various
district courts. He has represented clients in Federal Court in the
Massachusetts District Courts and in the Western District of Texas (El
Paso). He has argued appellate cases before the Single Justice,
Massachusetts Court of Appeals and the Supreme Judicial Court.
His immigration practice has focused on obtaining visas for those
wishing to enter the United States on an immigrant or temporary basis,
assisting individuals within the United States with changing or
adjusting their status, and defending those facing deportation. He has
represented immigrants in Immigration Court in Boston, Massachusetts,
Oakdale, Louisiana, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and in Federal
Court.
Prior to joining the Committee for Public Counsel, Attorney
Masferrer interned at the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, the
Rhode Island Public Defender's Office and the Federal Public Defender's
Office in Washington, D.C. His civil work has included working on class
action housing discrimination claims at the Lawyers Committee for Civil
Rights under Law in Washington, D.C., and preparing visa applications
for Honduran and Guatemalan clients seeking asylum at Centro Presente in Cambridge, MA
Throughout his legal career, Attorney Masferrer has dedicated
himself to defending clients who face insurmountable odds, advocating
on behalf of those who are not heard by the judicial system, and
providing representation to immigrants who wish to visit and live in
the United States.
He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the
Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Suffolk Lawyers for
Justice. He is on the Board of Suffolk Lawyers for Justice, and serves
as the Treasurer. He is admitted to practice in the Massachusetts state
courts as well as the United States Federal District Court and the
First Circuit, Fifth Circuit and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
As an active member of the criminal defense bar, Attorney Masferrer
has been a panel member on Committee for Public Counsel Annual Meetings
and a speaker at the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education programs
speaking on topics dealing with Expert Witnesses in Sexual Assault
Cases, Bail Revocations, and the Immigration Consequences of Criminal
Convictions. He has spoken to the Suffolk, Bristol and Plymouth County
Bar Associations regarding Collateral Immigration Consequences of
Criminal Convictions.

Kimberly Posocco
Kimberly Posocco joined the firm in September of 2009 as an
associate attorney. Kim is a graduate of Lafayette College and Boston
College Law School. Before joining our firm, Kim worked as a defense
attorney for the Committee for Public Counsel Services representing
individuals charged with criminal offenses within Norfolk County, and
more specifically in Quincy District Court. During that time, Kim
represented individuals on charges ranging from operating under the
influence of alcohol to distribution of controlled substances. While
she will continue to represent individuals charged with crimes in
district court, Kim has also recently expanded her practice areas to
include criminal appellate work. Kim is admitted to the practice in
Massachusetts and in the United States District Court for the District
of Massachusetts.

Adonia R. Simpson
Adonia R. Simpson joined the
firm in October 2010. She was born in Long Beach, California and
grew up abroad in Peru, Colombia and Algeria. After obtaining her
Bachelors of Arts from the University of Kansas, she attended New
England Law in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the firm,
Adonia served as the Fellow for the Center for Law and Social
Responsibility at New England Law. She worked with Special
Immigrant Juveniles in conjunction with Greater Boston Legal Services.
Adonia has also served as an international observer during a murder
trial in Popayán, Colombia for Rights &
Democracy.
Adonia represents clients in
Immigration Court, Family and Probate Court, Juvenile Court and before
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Long
committed to immigrant rights, her focus is on defensive and
affirmative petitions for immigration benefits.

Paola
Uriarte
Paola Uriarte has worked full-time for the firm since August
2009. She started as an administrative assistant and is currently a
paralegal and office manager. Paola graduated from Boston University
with a bachelor’s degree in history. Paola has worked directly with
clients on all immigration cases, helping to prepare applications and
supporting documents for the court. Paola will continue her duties as paralegal,
expanding to the criminal defense area of the firm. Paola speaks fluent
Spanish and French and is always available to answer questions.

Caitlin
Wolter
Cait “Cati”
Wolter joined the firm as our administrative assistant in May 2010 and
will soon be transitioning to the position of immigration paralegal. Cait is a recent graduate of the College of the
Holy Cross where she double-majored in English and Spanish. Cait speaks fluent Spanish and is always available
to answer your questions, pass along your messages to the attorneys,
and contact you when there are new developments on your case.
Additionally, Cait assists in the preparation
of applications for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
cases and helps prepare the submissions associated with ongoing
proceedings in Immigration Court.
